The Honourable Rob Nicholson, P.C., Q.C., M.P. for Niagara Falls, Minister of National Defence, welcomed the Pentagon’s announcement today of the nomination of Admiral William E. Gortney, United States Navy, to the post of Commander of the North American Aerospace Command (NORAD), pending U.S. Senate confirmation.

“I am delighted with the nomination of Admiral Gortney to the post of the Commander of NORAD. Admiral Gortney will replace General Jacoby, Jr. who has provided exemplary service to Canada as NORAD Commander since 2011.
