Supporting Arts and Culture in Kitchener-Waterloo

The Government of Canada is providing JM Drama Alumni with $80,000 over two years through the Canada Arts Presentation Fund to present their year-round music series at the Registry Theatre in Kitchener. Throughout 2014–2015 and 2015–2016, the series will feature performances of dance and a variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, folk, and pop.

The announcement was made today by Stephen Woodworth, Member of Parliament (Kitchener Centre), on behalf of the Honourable Shelly Glover, Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages.

  • The series will feature performances from artists from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, Manitoba, and Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Scotland.
  • JM Drama operates the Registry Theatre in a heritage-designated building in Kitchener. The building, which originally served as the Waterloo County Registry Office, was once also the home of the Waterloo Regional Police and the Curling Hall of Fame before being given new life as the Registry Theatre in 2001.
