The dhak dhak diva turns 47 today!

Born on May 15, 1967 Madhuri Dixit-Nene took Bollywood by storm in the 90s. The viewers were smitten by her elegant grace, her unparalleled dancing skills and most of all, her beauty. It was films like Ram Lakhan, Dil, Saajan, Beta, Parinda, Hum Aapke Hain Koun that made people go mad about Madhuri. She rocked the nation with her dhamaakedar dance numbers like Choli ke peechhe and Channe ke khet mein and broke a million hearts with her decision to marry an NRI doctor Sriram Nene and even quit her prospering Bollywood career to settle abroad. During her peak in Hindi film industry Madhuri was successfully paired opposite Salman Khan, Aamir Khan and Shahrukh Khan. She also shared a great chemistry with Anil Kapoor and was once linked to Sanjay Dutt. This Marathi mulgi was pitted against the likes of Sridevi and Juhi Chawla.

Mrs Dixit-Nene couldn’t keep away from the glamourous world of Bollywood for long and decided to make a comeback in the industry with Aaja Nachle in 2007, which failed to create an impact. She then returned again this time as a judge on small screen, judging a dance reality show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa. As a judge she’s delight and shakes a leg on her own dance numbers every now and then.

Madhuri again returned recently seen in Dedh Ishqiya and Gulaab Gang playing unconventional roles. She managed to make a succesful comeback with these two hatke projects and is now a little choosy about the roles she picks. Recently she refused to play mommy onscreen.
