Today, the Government of Canada awarded a contract for 3D terrain modelling and land surveying services for the new bridge for the St. Lawrence.

The contract, in the amount of $290,311.88 (taxes included), has been awarded to Consortium Perron, Hudon, Bélanger and Consultants SM. It includes the following activities:

• aerial photography;
• surveys by 3D laser scanning on land and other conventional methods where modelling from aerial photography is not appropriate; and
• processing of data collected to develop numerical models of the terrain and existing infrastructures in the project area for the new bridge for the St. Lawrence.

Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC) managed the procurement processes for this contract and ensured that it was carried out in a manner that ensured competition and fairness, and resulted in the best value for Canadian taxpayers. A fairness monitor oversaw the procurement process and PWGSC's integrity measures were applied.

With an estimated $20 billion in international trade crossing the Champlain Bridge annually, this corridor is a significant part of the regional economy and Canada’s economy as a whole. An efficient transportation corridor for public transit users and commercial vehicles is essential to ensuring the quality of life of residents and workers in Greater Montreal.
