Calgary, Alberta – Department of Canadian Heritage

The Government of Canada has provided $500,000 in funding through the Canada Cultural Spaces Fund to the Calgary Centre for Performing Arts, also known as the EPCOR CENTRE for the Performing Arts.

Joan Crockatt, Member of Parliament (Calgary Centre), announced this support today on behalf of Minister of Canadian Heritage and Official Languages Shelly Glover.

Funding will allow the Centre to purchase and install new specialized audio, video, lighting, and rigging equipment in four of its theatres.

• The EPCOR CENTRE for Performing Arts opened in 1985.
• The largest facility of its kind in Western Canada, it comprises five theatres and one concert hall for a cumulative seating capacity of 3,682.
• Nearly 600,000 people attend more than 1,800 performances and events each year at the Centre.
• The Centre is home to nine resident companies and partners that deliver over 1,800 performances annually.
