Anurag Kashyap's 'Ugly' was ready for a theatrical release in 2013, but the film didn’t release due to the Censor Board insisting on the super of 'Smoking Kills', which the team of the film has not agreed to put it due to creative reasons and they feel like if smoking is to be really stopped, then it needs to be banned.
It is learnt that Phantom productions wanted to attach the trailer of ‘Ugly’ with their upcoming production ‘Queen’, but the Censor Board has denied the permission as they are still not ready to put 'Smoking Kills' super. It is also said that there is another reason for denying the attachment of trailer that at the end of the trailer the makers have put, 'To be released as soon as we win the case'.
Well, let’s see that whether ‘Ugly’ will even get a theatrical release or not.
