Prelco's Veralex boat windshield division sets course for growth

January 28, 2014 10:35 AM

Acting on behalf of the Honourable Denis Lebel, Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs and Minister of the Economic Development Agency of Canada for the Regions of Quebec, the Honourable Christian Paradis, Member of Parliament for Mégantic–L’Érable, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie, announces that Prelco Inc. has been granted financial support to improve the productivity and diversify the manufacturing capabilities of its Veralex division.

This assistance has been awarded in the form of a $118,700 repayable contribution through Canada Economic Development’s Quebec Economic Development Program.

Quick facts

  • The firm used the assistance to purchase a profile stretch forming press and a digital cutting table to serve in the manufacture of, among other things, boat windshields without any visible trim. Similar to the kind found in automobiles, these windshields are a very popular innovation in the boating industry.
  • Prelco, a Canadian leader in the complex and safety glass industry, acquired Veralex in 2006. The company expects a rise in the division’s sales, particularly among foreign clients, as a result of this project.

Quote

“Our Government sees it as essential to support a growth enterprise like Veralex, whose project will lead to the creation of new jobs in the Centre-du-Québec region.”

Christian Paradis, Minister of International Development and Minister for La Francophonie
