Uttar Pradesh continued to be enveloped in dense fog Tuesday, affecting train and flight operations. Light to moderate rain is expected during the day.

According to airport officials here, more than four flights from New Delhi and Mumbai arrived late at the Amausi airport Monday and flights were facing similar delays Tuesday.

Jet Airways cancelled its Mumbai-Delhi-Lucknow flight till Jan 22 and said a final decision would only be taken after clearance from the Met Office.

Meanwhile, more than two dozen trains continued to be running late.

Trains like Avadh-Assam Express, Kaifiyat Express, Vindhyachal Intercity, Anrapali Express, Gorakhdham Express, Chandigarh-Dibrugarh Special, Triveni, Shaheed and Farakka Expresss were running late by several hours.

The weather, meanwhile, continued to be clear and the mercury dropped a few notches in most parts of the state.

However, regional Met Director J.P. Gupta said a low pressure depression was again gathering over Rajasthan and could bring a fresh spell of rain and thunderstorm.

The maximum temperature here Monday was 21.5 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature was 8.1 degrees Celsius, one notch above the season's average.
