Germany captain Oliver Korn said here Tuesday that his side needs to be patient with their defence in the Hockey World League Final quarter-final clash with the Netherlands Wednesday.

World No.1 Germany almost lost to hosts India in the final group match of the tournament at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium Monday night. A 68th minute goal helped the reigning Olympic champions draw the match 3-3 against a spirited India.

"To put up a good show, we will have to be very patient in our defence and play good hockey against the Netherlands team. Our strategy would be to break their counter-attack. We will have to play tactically as there are really strong players in their team, especially in the front line," said Korn after a practice session.

"Among the other teams, Australia, the Netherlands and Argentina are good competitors. From here on, anyone can win the game and we will put in our best efforts to play well and come out as a strong team.”
