To minimise chances of high-tech cheating, the Himachal Pradesh Public Service Commission has installed mobile jammers in its examination halls in the state capital, an official said here Sunday.

The jammers have been purchased after the arrest of 34 candidates, who were caught with mobile phones during the written examination of the combined graduate-level examinations in September last year, a commission spokesperson told IANS.

He said the candidates were indulging in high-tech cheating with the help of mobile phones they carried under their garments. The leads connected to the mobiles were craftily stitched into their garments so as to make them undetectable.

The spokesperson said a proposal would be sent shortly to the state government for providing adequate budget to purchase mobile jammers so each and every examination centre is equipped with these before the forthcoming Himachal Pradesh Administrative Service (Main) Examination.
