Sydney, Jan 5 (IANS)
Cricket Australia (CA) will hold a public celebration for the Australian Test team here Tuesday to mark their 5-0 victory in the Ashes.
The free, public event will take place on the Northern Boardwalk of the Sydney Opera House at 11 a.m. where the team will be presented with the Waterford Crystal Ashes Trophy, a large replica of the original Ashes urn, ahead of signing autographs and distributing giveaways for those in attendance.
Fans will also have the chance to hear captain Michael Clarke, coach Darren Lehmann and Man of the Series Mitchell Johnson.
Lehmann said the event was the team's opportunity to thank the public for its support throughout the series.
"From the moment we assembled in Brisbane for the first Test, through to the last wicket falling here in Sydney, we have had incredible support from the Australian public," Lehmann said.
"At times the crowd support was so strong, the boys felt like they had extra players on the field with them. It's been quite incredible. This is our small way of thanking Australians for their encouragement and passion throughout the Ashes. I've got no doubt it played a huge part in the team's performance."
