Six killed in Philippines blast

Six people were killed and six wounded when a bomb exploded at a New Year party in a remote village of Philippines's Basilan province, security official said Wednesday.

The improvised explosive device exploded Tuesday night around 9 p.m. near a parish church at Tumahubong village in Sumisip town, Xinhua reported quoting Jefferson Somera, public information officer of the 1st Army Division.

The wounded were immediately rushed to the 64th Infantry Battalion headquarters for first aide treatment before they were air lifted to the military hospital in Zamboanga.
