London, Dec 21

After selling over 400 million copies of the seven-part book series "Harry Potter" worldwide and inspiring eight film adaptations of the popular novels, author J.K. Rowling is reportedly set to co-produce a stage show of the series in London's West End.

The writer, along with prominent theatre producers Sonia Friedman and Colin Callender, are collaborating on a production which will tell the "previously untold story of Harry Potter's early years as an orphan and outcast", reports contactmusic.com.

Rowling praises the duo for the unique new take on Potter.

"Friedman and Callender's pitch was the only one that really made sense to me, and which had the sensitivity, intensity and intimacy I thought appropriate for bringing Harry's story to the stage," Rowling told The Daily Mail.

"After a year in gestation, it is very exciting to see this project moving onto the next phase," she added.

The show is likely to hit the London stage in 2015.
