Lucknow, Dec 14 (IANS)

A 17-year-old Pakistani national was held in Uttar Pradesh's Shahjahanpur without any relevant documents or passport and is being interrogated, police said Saturday.

Imran, a resident of Lahore, told police that he entered India from Atari by rail and was working as a labourer in Amritsar. He came to Uttar Pradesh a fortnight back.

He also said he was accompanied by his brother Yusuf who went missing from Jalandhar.

Intelligence and other security agencies have also joined the interrogation.

Officials told IANS that they would now try to verify the claims made by Imran through the Pakistan high commission in New Delhi.

"We have heard him out but his claims have to be verified by some Pakistan agency and we are in the process of doing so," an official told IANS.
