Beijing, Dec 14 (IANS)

China Friday reiterated its firm opposition to arms sales to Taiwan by the US.

Replying to a query about reports of US arms sales to Taiwan, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Hong Lei said that Chinese position remains clear on the issue, Xinhua reported.

While urging the US to abide by the three Sino-US Joint Communiques, especially the principles in the August 17 Communique, the official urged the US to stop arms sales to Taiwan.

The spokesperson also urged the US to develop bilateral ties with China through concrete efforts, and support the peaceful development of cross-Straits relations.
