Mumbai, June 16: Actor Jiah Khan’s mother had repeatedly warned her about the ‘rocky’ relationship with Suraj Pancholi.
Jiah and Suraj, son of Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab, had been seeing each other for more than a year. On June 3, Jiah hanged herself at her Juhu house. After a six-page letter written by the actor was found, Suraj was questioned and then arrested for abetting her suicide.
In her statement, Jiah’s mother Rabiya told the police that she had told her daughter that Suraj did not love her.
‘Come to your senses’, she had told her daughter. Two days later, when she spoke to Jiah, she felt it was likely that there was going to be a break-up as he was avoiding her. She asked Jiah why Suraj came running to meet her (Rabiya) when Jiah went to his house. Jiah had no reply to this.
According to Rabiya’s statement, she sent Suraj an SMS on May 28, a few days after he had come to her for help when Jiah had landed at his home after missing a flight out of the city.
Rabiya told the police she sent Suraj a message: “Don’t play games with me.” His reply: “You are confusing us.” She told him: “Let my daughter think straight towards her further being with you will be out of your focus and disturb your parents (sic). Let there be peace.
