Raipur, Dec 8 (IANS) The Congress claimed victory in Chhattisgarh Sunday as it edged past the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in assembly elections held last month.
"We expect to form the government," state Congress general secretary Ramesh Varlyani told IANS. "The results are as per our expectations."
Election officials said the Congress was on the winning track in 45 of the 90 assembly seats, with the BJP in the lead in 43 and the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in two constituencies.
