Chennai, Nov 30 (IANS)

The DMK's general council will meet Dec 15 to discuss various issues including the ensuing parliament elections, it was announced Saturday.

A statement issued by general secretary K.Anbazhagan said the general council meeting has been called at the party headquarters, and will be chaired by party president M.Karunanidhi.

According to the statement, the agenda for the meet among other things is to discuss "parliament elections".

In September, Karunanidhi had said the party's general council would meet in December and take important decisions.

The DMK came out of the ruling United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government, expressing its dissatisfaction at the way the government is handling the Sri Lankan Tamils issue.

However the party later patched up with Congress. Karunanidhi's daughter Kanimozhi was re-elected to the Rajya Sabha with Congress support.
