Up to 19 people were killed and 62 wounded in a series of car bomb explosions across Iraq's capital Baghdad Wednesday morning, a police source said.
"The latest reports said 19 people were killed and 62 wounded by bomb attacks in Baghdad which included six car bombs," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
One of the car bombs ripped through Tobji neighbourhood in the western central part of Baghdad, killing two people and wounding six others, the source said, adding that another one went off in the neighbourhood, killing three people and wounding nine.
Another car bomb exploded at Shaab neighbourhood in northeastern Baghdad, killing four people and wounding 11, the source said.
Meanwhile, a car bomb exploded near Kahramana intersection in Karrada neighbourhood killing two civilians and wounding eight others, the source said, adding that another car bomb went off in Adhamiyah neighbourhood in the northern part of the capital, killing two civilians and wounding nine.
In addition, a roadside bomb blew up at a popular marketplace in Sadriyah neighbourhood in central Baghdad, killing two people and wounding seven, the source said.
One more car bomb went off in Amil neighbourhood in the southern part of Baghdad, killing four and wounding 12 others, he added.
Iraq is witnessing its worst eruption of violence in recent years. According to the UN Assistance Mission for Iraq, almost 7,000 Iraqis were killed and over 16,000 others were injured from January to October this year.
