China to establish state security committee

 China will establish a state security committee, improving systems and strategies to ensure national security, according to a communique issued Tuesday after the third plenary session of the 18th Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee.

China will improve social governance and safeguard the interests of the people, Xinhua reported citing the communique.

The communique urged better social development, safeguarding state security and ensuring people's livelihood and social stability.

It called for the innovation of systems to effectively prevent and end social disputes and improve public security.

The third plenary session, that started in Beijing Saturday and concluded Tuesday, approved a decision on "major issues concerning comprehensively deepening reforms".

Entrusted by the political bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Chinese President Xi Jinping, who is also general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, delivered a work report at the plenary session.
