After peplum tops, dresses and skirts, the style is also catching up on jackets. Celebrities like Hilary Swank and Sofia Vergara have flaunted the style on the red carpet look.

A peplum jacket is a jacket with a short overskirt known as a peplum attached. For a modern and confident look, these are a must-have this season.

Both Swank and Vergara looked chic in their all-black outfits. While Swank added some bling via her embellished jacket, Vergara kept hers relatively simple because she wore leather trousers with hers.

Peplum jackets look great with slim-fitted pants, but they also work well over dresses and skirts. 

It's an ideal buy for over the Christmas period when the social calendar seems to overflow. It's a stylish option that will work well over most of the wardrobe.
