Canada Post to open temporary post office in High River

Ottawa (Ont.) –

Canada Post is pleased to announce that it will open a temporary post office in High River (Alberta) with a full range of products and services at 409 Centre street South, unit D, starting Monday, November 18.

In collaboration with the Town of High River, Canada Post has been working to re-open a post office in High River following the flooding which damaged and closed the post office. Since then, residents of the area have continued to receive their mail either at the Okotoks post office or in community mailboxes.

Residents who receive their mail in community mailboxes at the current location outside of the old post office will continue to receive their mail there, but they can pick up their carded parcels at the temporary post office.

Renovations and repairs continue at the postal outlet in the High River Shoppers Drug Mart, where re-opening is anticipated in late November. Customers who rent postal boxes from the High River Shoppers Drug Mart will be able to pick up their mail and parcels at the temporary post office – 409 Centre street South, unit D – as of November 18 until the Shoppers outlet reopens.

Because residents have accessed their mail and parcels at different locations in the past few months, Canada Post would like to remind them to read their delivery notice card carefully before picking up their item.

Canada Post continues to explore options for a permanent location for the High River post office and appreciates the ongoing support and patience of the Town of High River and its residents as we work to reinstate a permanent location to deliver postal service in the community.
