Tehran, Oct 31 (IANS)

The Iranian atomic chief has said that Tehran is producing high-grade 20 percent uranium enrichment.

"The 20 percent enriched uranium and fuel plates (therewith) are being produced within the country," reported Xinhua citing head of Atomic Energy Organisation of Iran (AEOI) Ali-Akbar Salehi Wednesday.

He said there has been no halt in the process of producing the fuel plates, while rejecting media reports of "alleged agreement between Tehran and the world powers" to halt the high-grade uranium enrichment.

Salehi said fuel plates are produced to be used in Tehran research reactor and every month the needed 20 percent enriched uranium is supplied to the reactor which never stops working.

Last week, Chairman of Iran Majlis (parliament) National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, Alaeddin Boroujerdi, said the Islamic republic had not halted the enrichment of uranium to 20 percent purity.
