Jaipur, Oct 18

A CBI team here Friday recorded the statement of a 35-year-old woman who accused a Rajasthan minister of raping her, sources said.

A case of rape was registered Sep 17 against former minister of state for dairy and rural industries Babulal Nagar, who later had to resign.

"A CBI team, including a woman police officer, reached the woman's residence around 11 a.m today (friday) and recorded her statement for about four hours," said a source close to the investigation.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will now serve notice to Nagar requiring him to appear before the agency for interrogation, the source said.

"He (Nagar) will be quizzed in the next couple of days. It is possible that he may be arrested soon after his interrogation," said the source.

The Ashok Gehlot-led Congress state government Sep 21 recommended a CBI probe against the former minister.

The woman's statement has been recorded before a magistrate in which she alleged that Nagar's relatives were threatening her and offering her money to withdraw the case.

Nagar represents the Dudu assembly constituency in Ajmer district.
