A over 350 year old sword being worshipped as per tradition at the Durga puja organised at the Lalgarh Rajbari (Lalgarh royal palace) in Lalgarh of West Midnapore district on Maha Ashtami in West Bengal on Oct 12, 2013.. Local lore says the sword was used to slay on a single day 11,000 plunderers who were fighting against the local king’s army. The Durga puja festival at the palace is considered incomplete without the worship of the sword on all the five festival days, with the Ashtami puja being the grandest.
